The Proposal edition by Emilee Hines Literature Fiction eBooks

I don't usually read romance novels, but I'm so glad I read this one.
That's how I spent a snow day when I was forced indoors.
This book has all the things that make an outstanding romance novel:
The author creates believable characters whom a reader wants to champion
(even though the heroine deceives to achieve her goal);
she did thorough research that makes reading the book a delight in addition
to the plot;
she writes well, so the pace moves along without sagging.
Ms. Hines taught high school social studies in her native Virginia and calls
the period of history prior to the American Revolution her favorite period of
history. Her love and knowledge come across, giving us interesting tidbits of
facts re food, clothing, cultural habits, etc.
She has traveled widely, including visiting London, so the street directions
and other details are accurate.
Re the plot: The strong story moves from London to Williamsburg on the eve
of the American Revolution.
Amelia Pemberton lies to escape from a dreadful arranged betrothal. She soon
becomes trapped by deceit, but if she tells the truth, she risks the loss of the man she loves.
This is a funny, sexy, historical romance.
I highly recommend it.

The Proposal edition by Emilee Hines Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I very highly recommend The Proposal by Emilee Hines. All I wanted to do was sit and finish this book - so I did, and I loved every minute of it. The Proposal really delivers romance, suspense, history and a genuine feel for what life was life, not only in London in 1774, but aboard a ship bound for America for five weeks. Gutsy Amelia Pemberton does not want to spend her life married to the man to whom she was promised. Geoffrey Landon brings a letter that offers her a way out. What does it matter that the letter was not addressed to her. Ms. Hines has a great voice, and I loved her cast of perfect characters for the story. I will definitely read other books by Emilee Hines.
One of the most pleasant and enjoyable experiences in reading I have had in a long time. I was enjoying it so much I hated to put it down in order to get tasks done or even to go to bed at night. Just a most enjoyable way to spend a winter evening as I did before the fire.
Just as with Emilee Hines other books, The Proposal is another front runner. The plot is intriguing, the characters well drawn, and the historical references are spot on. Ms. Hines certainly does her homework. With fall fast approaching, I would definitely recommend curling up in front of the fireplace with your favorite libation, and a copy of The Proposal.

Opening Day A Matt Davis Mystery
Emilee Hines get better and better!
Ms. Hines skillfully captures the expressions and more formal conversation common in early 1770s London. As the story grew, I found myself cheering for the heroine, in spite of being in on the gutsy story she has concocted in order to get herself to Virginia. This was a charming story and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Hines' work.

Mary A. Berger
If you are a fan of Historical Romance novels, I highly recommend The Proposal by Emilee Hines. The plot is a colorful and pleasingly simple story providing ample room for character development. The accuracy of the era portrayed is genuine; Ms. Hines has produced other historic novels, both fiction and non fiction, and is no stranger to the necessity of thorough research. The players in The Proposal are completely engaging; the hero and the heroine passionate about themselves and their individual beliefs. There are other delightful characters lending both drama and humor to the story. There are several moments of intimacy and desire presented in an explicit, yet tender and caring manner. Ms. Hines is no stranger to the use of alliteration, a creative style I find rather unused in this modern age of the plot driven and fast paced literary market. I should hope to see the Author provide us with a sequel (or a trilogy) to this thoroughly enjoyable novel. And, as an added bit, I have had the pleasure of narrating the audiobook version of the novel for Ms. Hines; you will find it for purchase shortly on . I feel that the audiobook provides another excellent choice in the enjoyment of this work.
